4K and Kindergarten Registration
Spelling Bee Winner
     Congratulations go out to fifth grader Wyatt Short as the winner of the PES Spelling Bee. Wyatt will represent PES at the Anderson County Spelling Bee on March 3, 2012 at 9;00am. The county Spelling Bee will be held in the Daniel Recital Hall of Anderson University. Sixth grader, Chris Gladson was the runner-up in our school bee.
   


January 19 Pendleton Elementary School Spelling Bee
    The PES School Spelling Bee will be held Thursday, January 19, 2012 at 9:00am in the gym.  Classroom Spelling Bee Winners from each class in grades 3-6 will be competing to win the school level spelling bee. Congratulations to the following classroom winners who will be in this competition:

2012 Instructional Materials Caravan

    The 2012 Instructional Materials Caravan will give presentations in the area of English Language Arts K–5 during the month of February. Please click for more information about registration and a schedule for previewing these materials.


February 16th Father/Daughter Mother/Son Dance
   Please join us for an elegant evening at the first annual Pendleton Elementary Father-Daughter and Mother-Son Dance to be held February 16th in the gym from 6:00pm-8:00pm.  This dance is for father-daughter(s) and/or mother-son(s). Only PES students and their parents/guardians are invited to the dance (no younger or older siblings). The evening will include desserts and dancing. The cost will be $15.00 per family. An information sheet and ticket order form have been sent home. Forms and money to attend the dance are due February 3.








Author Fran Hawk Visits 4K-1 Classes
     10, 9, 8, 7, 6 5, 4, 3, 2,1...COUNT DOWN TO FALL! The 4K, 5K, and 1st grade students at Pendleton Elementary School enjoyed meeting author Fran Hawk November 14th. Mrs. Hawk spoke to the children about autumn leaves, animal habitats and read her award winning book Count Down to Fall. Students had the opportunity to take home a signed copy of her book to enjoy and she donated a signed, hard cover copy to the PES library as well! Count Down to Fall is Fran Hawk's third book. She has also written The HL HUNLEY and Queenie's Coin and Ten Tips for Raising Readers.

Mentors from Clemson Visit PES
      A group of college students from Clemson University are new mentors for students at PES. The mentors are college students that are involved in Greek Life at Clemson University. They meet with their student once a week to help them make smart choices with their academics and behavior. The younger students will be mentored along with an academic focus in reading. The older students have mentors that will work with them in the classroom to help them develop good academic habits and behaviors. We are excited to welcome these wonderful college students to encourage and set a good example for our PES students. We appreciate their willingness to give of their time and talents to help others.
